  6. Hi Conor - what style of music is T.I.? Could you give us some information? I haven't listened to him before.

  7. Ti is a tecno rapper who wrote this record after he got out of jail. When he went to jail it didn't have much of an impact on his popularity and he is still one of the most popular and one of the most known rappers in the world today.

  8. When he got out of jail the reporters swarmed him. All he said was "listen to my cd" and thats where he left it. But not all of his songs are about his hardships. like swing ya rage and swagga like us. those are all just more good songs from TI.

  9. wow thats nice. so most of there songs are hardships?? if it is then thats a little sad.

  12. Swagga like us is my favorite song but I think should get more credet than just being featcherd. Is dead and gone on the album. What year did this album come out. Does paper trail mean any thing in the hardships or is it just a cool name. In the album what is your favorite song. I think it is a hard choice to me

  13. Hi Conor, I'm looking forward to hearing TI when you bring in your listening example. It will be interesting to see if I've heard him before and just didn't know who I was hearing!

  22. T.I.'s suppression hearing was originally stated for January 3, 2008; however, U.S. Magistrate Alan J. Baverman pushed back the suppression hearing until February 19, 2008. The performer later pleaded guilty to US federal weapons charges. He will serve a year in jail beginning in March 2009 after completing 1,000 hours of community service.[21] In an interview with MTV about serving jail time, T.I. stated, "Presumably, while I'm there, I'll be able to strategize my comeback." He went on to say that he would not "just be sitting still doing nothing".[22]

While under house arrest, T.I. began writing lyrics down on paper for his following album.[23] He released his sixth album, Paper Trail, in September 2008. The title of the album refers to the lyrics he had written down on paper. Like many other rappers, T.I. abandoned this style of rapping after his debut album I'm Serious by just memorizing lyrics. His representative explain that T.I. wanted to "take more time to really put something down [this time]".[24] The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 selling 568,000 copies in the United States.[25]

The first promotional single from the album, "No Matter What," was released in April 2008. The music video was released on June 2008 on MTV's FN Premieres. The second promotional single was "Swing Ya Rag" which was produced by and featured Swizz Beatz.[26] The official lead single was "Whatever You Like," was released on July 2008, and became his most successful single of his career so far, breaking the record for the highest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, jumping from number 71 to number one. It is T.I.'s first solo number one on the chart. The second single, "Swagga Like Us", featuring Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, debuted and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. With the third single "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna, T.I. broke his own record on the Billboard Hot 100 when it jumped from number 80 to the number one.[25] The fourth single "Dead and Gone", featuring Justin Timberlake, has peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

  24. When i listen to some music i can picture the consert in my head so i dont have to watch a music video to under stand the song. But when i listen to T.I it only happens for some of the songs. on the first song he is talking about how he made the mistake and he was ready for the consiqinces and he was making the song so complex that if you didn’t listen realy closly you wouldent know what he was talking about and i just thought that was so interesting. So now when I listen to any music i can really know what there talking about. I ust didn’t really listen before and i regret that i didn’t really listen.

  25. So guys Im going to give you guys some followup haha :D I want you all to when you listen to your music i want you all to really listen i want you to really try to really understand what the artist is trying to say through the music. But if your music you are listing to does not have lyrics try to understand what the artist is trying to say by listing to the tone and the sounds that are playing. and i dont want exuses just what you think the artist is trying to say through the song insted through just talking

  26. AND I REALLY MEAN IT
    PLEASE DO THE FOLLOW UP

  28. just joking you dont have to do it i would just like you to do it

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Conor, I like your thoughts on REALLY listening to music. It makes the experience much more interesting, doesn't it? I really hope that people will "do the follow up" like you suggest. I'm trying to with Salif Keita, though it's kinda tricky, 'cause I don't know what his lyrics mean!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sounds like you like T.I. Do you know when he is going to jail. Its sad that he is going to jail like to listen to some gansa rap somtimes

    ReplyDelete
  31. i think I'm gonna do the "follow-up" even though you're not a teacher.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I did the follow ^ but their lyrics don't really make sense. (I actually sort of like that) It sounds like they put some random words together in some parts.

  33. if M.I.A is in swagga like us then how come she is not featred

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Conor! I'd be interested in reading the lyrics to "Swagga Like Us", 'cause on my first listen I know I missed a lot. Who will you share your music with?
